    The Immersive Gulf Stream Experience was the first of the two ground-breaking, large-scale audiovisual interactive exhibits commissioned for the Patricia and Philip Frost Museum of Science in Miami, Florida. The immersive experience gives visitors an unforgettable walk-through of the Gulf Stream and its aquatic inhabitants.


  • Immersive Gulf Stream Experience

    To educate visitors to the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science in Miami on the impact the Gulf Stream has on the marine world, we were commissioned to conceptualise and create a large-scale, interactive, audiovisual experience. The Immersive Gulf Stream Experience, an 18-metre long and 3-metre high interactive projection environment, showcases the powerful, warm ocean and exposes visitors to its influence on the food chain and fish schooling behaviours.

    The Immersive Gulf Stream Experience uses specially developed computer algorithms to showcase the realistic and ever-changing schooling behaviours of thousands of virtual sardines and other marine creatures. Visitors to the exhibit can influence the ultra-high definition flow environment in real time thanks to camera tracking sensors making the experience akin to a safari or scuba dive.
    As they walk through the virtual Gulf Stream projection, visitors are exposed to three-dimensional animations elusive and seldom seen creatures of those waters, including those not typically kept in an aquarium. We also designed the display in such a way as to encourage museum visitors to move through a transition area in the right direction to continue their journey.
