First, we analyse your project needs, from stakeholder buy-in to audience engagement and profitability. Then, we formulate the right design strategy to set you up for success.
What will it take to excite and engage your funders and key stakeholders? We partner with you to craft a “vision document” that visualises your next big idea. Equipped with 3D renders and/or a video walkthrough, you can demonstrate the visitor experience and get your team on board.
Your planned visitor experience is intriguing, but is it viable? We help you to create a feasible model for your attraction. Together, we establish anticipated visitor numbers, the right mix of service offerings, CapEx and OpEx, and monetisation strategies. At the end of this process, you’ll have the certainty you need to speak to investors.
How do you build an experience that works for everyone involved? Using principles of human-centred design, our work begins with a thorough analysis of your audience and key stakeholders like funders and operational staff. This sets the stage for visitor experiences and interactive exhibits that respond to the needs and desires of all parties.
What are the mindsets of your visitors and what moves them? Using audience insights and behavioural science, we develop a roadmap to capture the attention of your audience and move them to action. Our “experience to action” model structures narrative and exhibits into a captivating storyline that entices visitors to get involved.
Are you future-proof? We advise you on where technology has the biggest impact in your experience. Your technology plan will factor in the long-term viability of interactive exhibition systems, and the role they play in the success of your visitor attraction.
Our design process is all-encompassing, multidisciplinary and lays a foundation for project success. Our team of experts will take you from initial concept to budget and product specs, then plan for seamless interactions and key messaging.
Made up of two stages—concept design and design development—our visitor experience design process spans from initial concept and planned exhibits to exact project specs. Writers, architects and interaction designers combine their expertise to deliver impactful digital experiences in a spacial environment.
We deliver content, measurements, technology and the cost of materials required, as well as sample designs, storyboards and all briefs. We also conduct value engineering to improve the impact, functionality and project spending.
Using leading-edge technologies, behavioural insights and the expertise of a multidisciplinary team, we produce award-winning interactive exhibits and products. These can be as small as a tablet game or as large as an augmented projection that fills an entire gallery.
Rooted in your engagement strategy and an understanding of how audiences interact with text and multimedia in an exhibition environment, we design messaging and a visual language. We tap into cultural currents and the communication patterns of your audience.
We’re experts in user experience (UX) design and UX interactions—which are cornerstones of the modern visitor experience. From touchscreen interactions to virtual reality: we deliver the full package while ensuring a seamless user experience.
We develop content that caters to a range of audience members, who absorb content at varying levels of depth and in diverse formats. Between detailed labels, bite-sized chunks of insight and animated brand experiences, our copywriters ensure your key message is accessible and effective across the board.
We have all the technical and fabrication expertise needed to create your visitor experiences and interactive exhibits. We’ll handle it all: from pre-production through to manufacturing, assembly and testing, crafting, shipping, installation, and post-production.
Before production, we will contract and set up consultations with manufacturing specialists, who our in-house technical production team will then be tasked with orchestrating regular workshop inspections and reporting. The final product will be assembled and tested at the formula D_ workshop, where it will be created and packaged to ship. Our team will also be available onsite to manage the installation process and train your staff. Post-installation, we will remotely monitor the experience to ensure everything is going to plan.
With our in-depth knowledge of the production of various media formats, we’ve had the pleasure of working with museums, science centres and tourism attractions on creating their visitor experiences on a global scale. Our multidisciplinary team has tech and software development expertise that puts us in an ideal position for non-linear storytelling and advanced procedural animations.
Working closely with our user experience design team, our developers build software that works using quick iterations and releases tested throughout the development process. With modern-day visitor attractions, the software is often the backbone of the experience – we use apps, interfaces and coding frameworks to maximise our ability to create unforgettable exhibitions.
Regardless of how technologically advanced a visitor attraction is, print design and production still account for a vital portion of the visual communication elements.
We know that the last leg of this process can be overly stressful and, if not appropriately coordinated, can exceed budget and timelines. So, formula D_’s team is deployed onsite to supervise and quality check the work of different trades. Our project managers ensure coordination activities run smoothly, and we significantly reduce the risk of onsite integration issues by fully assembling critical systems before installation as part of our Fabrication process.
